Tuomo has been Finland’s Honorary Consul to southeast Thailand. His research interests cover ASEAN studies, regional economic integrations and area studies, organisational transformation, public administration, and public policy. He has published widely in international journals.

He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Social and Political Science at Jenderal Soedirman University, Indonesia. He has been Visiting Visiting (Full) Professor (of ASEAN Studies and Organisational Development and Sustainability) at the Royal University of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and has for many years been a University Lecturer in Thailand, in the Graduate School of Public Administration.

Dr. Ahmad Husni Johari

Graduated with B.Sc in Chemical Engineering from University of Nevada, Reno, USA in 1985 and MBA from University of Bath, UK in 1994. He was conferred a Honarary Doctorate from Indian Institute of Alternative Medicine in 2008 Completed his DBA courseworks at Universiti Utara Malaysia 2016.. Started his career as an Industrial Engineer in 1986 with a US Medical Device before appointed as Visiting Engineer at Golden Hope Plantation Bhd monitoring the rubber and latex downstream activities from 1989 to 1995. He was then made the Country Manager, Indonesia by UEM Group based in Jakarta in 1995. Subsequently he was made theVice President and Chief Executive Officer of Technology Park Malaysia 2005 to 2016. Before retired in Nov 2023 he was the Chief Operating Officer - Sustainable Development and Government relation and Project Director.

A Certified Halal Professional and Certified Halal Auditor with JAKIM and BPJPH. Has a good relationship with JAKIM, BPJPH, MUIS, CICOT. Regular participant at World Halal Summit, Global Halal Summit, International Halal conferences. He was the Halal Business Advisor for islamic Information, Documentation and Certification GmbH and Senior Halal Business Advisor to Shanghai Global Halal, China.

Southeast Asia Representative

Adly Mohamed was the Chief Commercial Officer of Halal Development Corporation Berhad (HDC). HDC is under the purview of the Malaysian Ministry Of Investment, Trade & Industry (MITI) HDC is the custodian of the Malaysian Halal industry. working with various Halal industry stakeholders, both locally and internationally.

In HDC, Adly was managing five (5) Revenue Generating departments for HDC namely, Halal Training Institute (HTI), Halal Consultancy & Advisory (HCA), Halal Park (HP), Halal Integrated Platform (HIP) and Halal Event Management (HEM). He was responsible in developing commercial and business developmental strategies in pursuit of achieving overall corporate and commercial goals. The Commercial division, under his tenure, he has managed to bring forth a string of successful projects, both nationally and internationally. This resulted in not only increasing the revenue of the company, but more importantly made HDC relevant and resilient in the Halal industry.

Prior to joining HDC, he has more than 25 years working experience holding positions such as CEO and COO with various industries including tourism, hotels, service sector and consultation.He specializes in turning around management and companies, business development, project management, productivity and cost improvement, and managed to achieve profits and revenues for these companies. Other than his contribution to Malaysian companies such as Tabung Haji(Malaysian Pilgrim’s Board), he has had experienced working in projects in Jeddah and Riyadh KSA, Jakarta, Bangkok, Dubai, Prague, Melbourne, among others.

ADLY BIN MOHAMED

Africa Region Representative

Zaynab El Bernoussi is Associate Professor of Political Science at The Africa Institute, Global Studies University (GSU), and a scholar specializing in dignity politics, international relations, and the international political economy. She holds a Master’s in Finance (MiF) from Instituto de Empresa, a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in Political and Social Sciences from the Catholic University of Louvain. She was recognized by The Africa Report as one of the “10 African Scholars to Watch in 2026.”

She also served as Interim Chair of the Department of Humanities at The Africa Institute, GSU, from April 2025 to January 2026, providing academic leadership during a key transitional period. Before joining The Africa Institute, she held various academic positions, including Visiting Assistant Professor of Social Research and Public Policy at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD), as well as Assistant Professor and Program Director at Al Akhawayn University and Sciences Po Rabat. She has also conducted research as a visiting scholar at Smith College and Harvard University. She was recently named the recipient of the 2025 Global South Award by the International Political Science Association (IPSA).
